Despite its low numbers currently, Nigeria, with over 220 million people, a
tech-empowered youth populace, a booming startup ecosystem in Lagos, and a
government that is starting to give it attention will likely be very important
in AI development.
Fintech disruptors, edtech know-how, and others, Nigerian
startups are already using AI in practical forms. But, there remains a missing
part: the use of AI models such as ChatGPT, LLaAMA or Google Gemini
meaningfully in local contexts. It is here that prompt engineering comes in,
not just as a technical work, but as a lever of sorts for Nigeria and its
journey into AI.
