But, even with this infrastructure, we are already seeing two major gaps:

- Not locally optimized: Most generative models also do not perform well when queried about Nigeria-specific contexts.

= Low literacy of prompts: Developers and digital professionals tend to engage with AI as if it were a search engine rather than as a creative collaborator.

This creates a bottleneck capacity-wise for LLMs in Nigeria and is not the most economical way to train AI skills in Nigeria.

Things to Watch Out For

The potential is great, but there are barriers to overcome:

- Model shortcomings: The few good LLMs do not recognize Nigerian names, accents, or contexts unless they are specifically prompted to do so.

- Data leakage: Poorly prompted models have the potential to leak sensitive data from businesses or governments.

Instead of attempting to avoid them, they should be dealt with through policy, investment and ethical consciousness.
